Abra to Merge Avianca, Gol, Wamos Fleets, Optimizes Resources

Abra Group, the parent company of Avianca, GOL, and Wamos Air, is considering sharing and crossing over aircraft fleets among its airlines as it expands its operations.
The group recently ordered 50 additional Airbus A320neo narrowbody planes and leases for up to seven Airbus A330neo widebodies.
Avianca mainly operates Airbus A320 family and Boeing 787 aircraft; GOL uses mostly Boeing 737 Max jets; and Wamos Air specializes in wide-body ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) operations with Airbus A330s.
The question now is whether these different aircraft types, traditionally kept separate, might be shared more flexibly between the companies under Abra's umbrella to optimize resources and capacity.
Currently, Avianca has phased out older A330s, but the new A330neos (similar but more modern) present an opportunity for reintroducing widebody operations across the group.
Meanwhile, the group's narrowbody fleet total (combining Boeing and Airbus orders) will grow significantly, providing flexibility on medium- and long-haul routes, especially across the Americas and potentially Europe.
Abra Group emphasizes that no final decision has yet been made on how to allocate these widebodies, and the potential crossover between planes is still under evaluation.
This development coincides with Abra Group's plans to submit a draft registration statement for an IPO in the US to grow beyond the Latin American market.
