Contactless check-in

Contactless check-in is a process in which guests check in at the hotel without interacting with the front desk staff. This approach shortens wait times, minimizes physical contact, lightens staff workload, and reduces paperwork.

Depending on the property, guests can perform contactless check-in using mobile apps, self-service kiosks, or online platforms.

Hotels with dedicated mobile apps require guests to download the app, create an account, and input their personal and reservation details. With online platforms, guests receive a link to an online form in which they enter the required information for check-in without the need to download an app. A self-service kiosk is an interactive touchscreen device that also allows guests to verify their reservations.

After completing the check-in via one of the methods, guests receive a digital key on their smartphones. Notably, when opting for kiosks, guests may choose to receive a physical key card instead.
