Campsite

A campsite is a place for camping or an overnight stay outdoors. The exact meaning differs in American and British English.

In the US, a campsite means a spot on the campground where one can pitch a tent or park a camper.

In the UK, a campsite (US – campground) is a designated piece of land where people can camp (using tents, campervans, etc.) that might have such amenities as

  • toilets,
  • showers,
  • picnic tables,
  • playgrounds,
  • parking areas,
  • firepits,
  • potable water,
  • convenience stores, etc.

Sometimes, campsites with no or minimum amenities can also be located in the wilderness along the hiking trails for those backpacking or trekking.
