Background

Our client is an Israeli-based, modular platform that helps boost online sales to over 200 regional and global carriers — from flag carriers to major low-cost operators and leisure charter companies. AltexSoft team contributed to the development of a modern booking engine pre-integrated with the company’s proprietary passenger service system (PSS) and a distribution hub that enables seamless connectivity with any PSS.

Challenges

During our collaboration with the client, we focused on the following business challenges:

Empower airlines to start tailored online sales fast

Modernize the user experience to boost direct bookings

Simplify integrations with indirect distribution channels

Designing a no-code booking platform builder

One of the company’s goals was to enable airlines to quickly build and update a retailing platform adjusted to their unique needs. Rather than offering a basic white-label solution where carriers could only add logos and modify colors, our team developed a versatile, widget-based library for no-code, drag-and-drop construction of a booking engine. This allowed airlines to fine-tune every aspect of their booking flow, from button size and shape to overall layout and navigation. Airlines could further personalize the experience by rearranging booking steps or adjusting the amount of information displayed on each page.

Reaching travelers wherever they are

While the initial approach was mobile-first, we also developed a web version, giving airlines the flexibility to set up their booking engine on their preferred platform — whether web, Android, or iOS. This way, carriers could provide a seamless, end-to-end customer journey — from registration to checkout and payment — wherever their travelers are. The user experience remained consistent across all touchpoints, with the mobile app seamlessly mirroring the website.

Architecting an NDC-ready distribution hub

Another product our experts contributed to was a distribution hub positioned between an airline’s PSS and its various sales channels. The solution enables carriers to extend their reach through GDS, NDC partners, and their own mobile and web platforms. AltexSoft team participated in technology selection and architecture design, with a strong focus on security and the order management component. From the start, we aligned the architecture with NDC standards to ensure seamless and consistent handling of both direct and NDC sales.

Approach and Technical Info

Our collaboration lasted over a year. It expanded to include 14 full-time experts, augmenting the client’s internal team for various aspects. At different stages, AltexSoft strengthened in-house resources with a project manager, a business analyst/product owner, a solution architect, a software architect, and 10 frontend developers (for both mobile and web versions).

The tech stack includes React Native, React, Vue.js, Node.js, Apostrophe CMS, and Java
