Stateroom on a cruise
A stateroom is a private cabin on a cruise ship where passengers stay during their voyage. It is essentially a hotel room at sea and includes amenities like a bed, bathroom, storage, minibars, and concierge service.
Cruise lines categorize staterooms into four main classes of service—interior, oceanview, balcony, and suites—each one varying in size, luxury, and level of comfort. A balcony stateroom offers outdoor space and scenic views, while an interior room is more budget-friendly and may not include windows.
Travel agencies looking to acquire a Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) certification must make at least five stateroom bookings with a current CLIA member.
