Connecting rooms

Connecting rooms in a hotel are two or more guest rooms located next to each other with an interior door that allows guests to pass between them without entering the hallway. This setup is popular with families, groups of friends, or travelers who want privacy but still need easy access to each other’s rooms.

Unlike adjoining rooms, which may be side by side but have no connecting door, connecting rooms allow guests to move between spaces without needing to leave their private area. Many chain hotels and family-friendly resorts include connecting rooms in their amenities list, especially in destinations that attract families or group travelers.

Guests can request connecting rooms when making a reservation or during check-in, but availability often depends on the specific hotel’s room layout and occupancy. Hotels typically note connecting room availability in their central reservation system (CRS) or property management system (PMS).
