After-departure charge

An after-departure charge is a fee applied to a passenger’s ticket after the traveler has already departed on their journey.

This can occur due to involuntary changes imposed by the airline (e.g., schedule adjustments, cancellations, or rerouting) or voluntary modifications made by the passenger that require a ticket reissue (e.g., a new connection).

The charge covers penalties, fare differences, and administrative costs associated with modifying a ticket after the journey has started.
