Jump seat
A jump seat is a foldable or auxiliary seat located in the aircraft’s cabin.
It is primarily intended for use by flight attendants or other crew members who need to be on board but are not part of the operating crew for that particular flight.
Cabin jump seats are installed near exit doors or galley areas to ensure flight attendants have secure seating during critical phases of flight. Typically, flight attendants use them during takeoff and landing to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Jump seats are equipped with safety harnesses and are often spring-loaded to fold away when not in use, maximizing space during normal service operations.
Jump seats can also be found in the flight deck, where additional pilots or trainees may observe operations.
Only crew members with the proper credentials are permitted to occupy these seats.
