We are looking for
Middle Front-end Engineer
About AltexSoft
We are looking for a Middle React Engineer to join our team and work on the development of a large-scale Next.js application. You’ll collaborate with an experienced engineering team to enhance and modernize the front-end codebase, ensuring clean, maintainable, and high-performing solutions. The role involves working directly within the client’s existing code repository, contributing to long-lived feature branches, and integrating seamlessly into their delivery process.
You’ll primarily focus on the front end, but a basic understanding of back-end systems and AWS infrastructure will be a valuable asset. This is a great opportunity to work with a mature engineering setup, clean processes, and a team dedicated to code quality and continuous improvement.
About Project
The project is built on a Next.js application (pages router) deployed via Vercel. It uses a TypeScript, Prettier and Husky ensuring code quality. The back end combines Next.js API routes and AWS SAM services (API Gateway + Lambdas), with AWS Cognito handling authentication. Infrastructure is managed through CloudFormation, spanning separate AWS accounts for development and production environments.
You Have
- 3+ years of professional experience in React and Next.js (pages router)
- Solid knowledge of TypeScript and experience migrating or maintaining mixed TypeScript/JavaScript codebases
- Good understanding of modern front-end tooling (Webpack, Vite, Babel, etc.) and code formatting tools (Prettier, Husky)
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and client-side data handling (fetch, Axios, SWR, or React Query)
- Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience working with Git and feature branch workflows in collaborative environments
- Proactive mindset, attention to detail, and ability to follow project-specific development standards
- Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) in day-to-day development tasks
Would be a plus
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, or Cognito
- Familiarity with CloudFormation or other IaC tools
- Understanding of authentication flows in serverless environments
- Experience building AI-powered solutions or integrating AI pipelines/APIs into software projects
You Are Going To
- Develop, refactor, and optimize components within an existing Next.js application
- Work within a dedicated feature branch, ensuring smooth integration with the main codebase
- Reuse and extend existing UI components from the shared component library
- Participate in code reviews and follow established linting and pre-commit practices
- Collaborate with team members to identify improvements in performance and maintainability
- Communicate proactively with project stakeholders and contribute to process improvement
